To discover it, all you have to do is follow the Route Touristique du Champagne. Fully signposted, this route winds its way through vineyards, over jagged hillsides where Champagne villages, châteaux and churches cling. This year, it celebrates its 70th anniversary!
Enter the vineyards to breathe in the scents of the sap… For your next excursion to Champagne, push open the doors of the cellars to meet the winemakers and share their passion for a moment. And don’t forget to visit Epernay, whose incredible Avenue de Champagne attracts 2 million visitors every year, and Hautvillers, a small village between vineyards and forest overlooking Epernay, known as the cradle of Champagne.

Your wine tour starts in Reims or Epernay, a 70-kilometer plunge into the history, heritage and landscapes of Champagne.

Often overlooking the valley, this route from Epernay offers splendid views of the Pinot Meunier vineyards.

MASSIF DE SAINT-THIERRY
ARDRE VALLEY
Vineyards and forests form a magnificent green landscape in the Massif de St-Thierry, surrounding villages closely linked to the coronations of the kings of France. Leaving Reims at the Tinqueux exit, the route follows picturesque roads.
- Le circuit débute par la visite de la cathédrale de Reims avec à proximité, le Palais du Tau abritant le trésor de la cathédrale et une partie de la statuaire originale.
- Discover Saint-Thierry, where you can admire the 12th-century community chapel, a former chapter house with beautiful carved capitals.
- Une fois le parcours terminé, de retour à Reims, ne manquez pas de visiter la magnifique basilique Saint-Remi et son musée, classés au titre du patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO.

COTEAUX VITRYATS
THIS ITINERARY IS A NEW GATEWAY TO THE CHAMPAGNE VINEYARDS FOR VISITORS STAYING IN THE VITRY-LE-FRANÇOIS AND LAC DU DER REGION.
Your wine tour starts from Reims or Epernay, a 70-kilometer journey through history, heritage and landscapes.
- Approximately 60km long, it winds its way along small roads through hills, mountains and plains, taking in some twenty villages with architecture characteristic of the Champagne Bocage.
- Departure is from Vitry-le-François, the “pink” city named after François I.
On the way :
- A Vitry, cous ne manquerez pas de visiter la collégiale Notre-Dame, puis vous passerez au niveau de la Porte du Pont (XVIII°S.) en direction de Châlons-en-Champagne. Les premières vignes apparaissent au niveau de Couvrot et de la côte de Gravelines.
- Discover Vavray-le-Grand and its retaining wall with imposing arches,
- Bassuet and its winegrowers in the village’s main street
- The Mont de Fourche in Vitry en Perthois.
MARNE VALLEY
OFTEN DOMINATING THE VALLEY, THIS ROUTE OFFERS SPLENDID VIEWS AND OPENS THE DOORS TO ITS RICH HERITAGE.
The Pinot Meunier vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see, and villages, châteaux and churches can all be found on the tourist routes of the Marne. Leaving Epernay in the direction of Reims, you’ll climb up to Champillon, with its breathtaking view over the first hills of the Côte des Blancs. You’ll finish your tour in Pierry, which boasts a fine collection of 18th-century estates and mansions, before returning to Epernay.

LA CÔTE DES BLANCS
Leaving from Epernay or Bergères-les-Vertus, the itinerary promises prestigious discoveries.
La Côte des Blancs, berceau du Chardonnay : ses villages aux noms célèbres sont bâtis en amphithéâtre sur le flanc des collines. D’Épernay à Vertus, la Côte des Blancs, orientée nord-sud, s’appuie aux rebords du plateau de Brie. Votre périple débutera à Épernay par la montée de la célèbre Avenue de Champagne, où les noms les plus prestigieux se succèdent. Contournant le Mont Bernon par Chouilly, vous redescendrez sur Pierry (château, cellier et caves du XVIIIe) pour découvrir l’église de Chavot-Courcourt (XIIe), seul îlot au milieu d’un océan de vignes.
On the way :
- Your journey begins in Épernay with a climb up the famous Avenue de Champagne, where one prestigious name follows another.
- Rounding Mont Bernon via Chouilly, you’ll come back down to Pierry (château, cellar and 18th-century wine cellars) to discover the 12th-century church of Chavot-Courcourt, the only island in a sea of vines.
COTEAUX DU SÉZANNAIS AND COTEAUX DU PETIT MORIN
Leaving from Bergères-les-Vertus or Villenauxe-la-Grande, the route is dotted with historic sites of great interest.
Entre bocage, marais et vignoble la route revèle une typologie qui allie parcelles des vignes entrecoupées de bosquets et de champs dans un relief mouvementé. Les amoureux des belles pierres pourront découvrir des Châteaux (Montmort-Lucy, Etoges), des églises (Allemant, Barbonne-Fayel, Vert-Toulon…), des abbayes (Abbaye cistercienne Notre-Dame du Reclus à Talus-Saint-Prix, Baye, Oyes), mais aussi des menhirs et des dolmens !
Ce territoire a également été témoin d’affrontements pendant la première guerre mondiale. Pour cette raison, un imposant monument commémoratif national, en souvenir des soldats de la première bataille de la Marne, ainsi qu’un musée, ont été érigés à Mondement.

- Finally, let yourself be carried away to Chantemerle, then on to Villenauxe-la-Grande, famous for its ceramics and earthenware. The old houses of the old town and the church of Saint-Pierre et Saint-Paul, with its majestic choir, will bring this tour to a pleasant close.
Did you know?
The patron saint of winegrowers, Saint Vincent is honored throughout the region every year on the Sunday following January 22, Saint Vincent’s Day. Each village in the Champagne region has its own brotherhood, one of whose members has the privilege of holding the baton of Saint Vincent.
This very popular Champagne festival features a large gathering in folk costumes, a solemn mass, followed by a banquet and the presentation of diplomas.
