Cabbage, game and cereals are the traditional ingredients of Champagne cuisine. But the flavors of the Marne are also champagne lentils, finer and slightly rosé, Reims ham, seasoned with champagne, molded and breaded, pig’s trotter “Sainte-Menou” simmered for a long time and then breaded.

The Marne has 3 UNESCO World Heritage sites: the Cathedral of Notre-Dame, the Palais du Tau, the Basilica and Museum of Saint Remi in Reims, the Pilgrim’s Way to Santiago de Compostela, with the Collegiate Church and Cloister Museum of Notre-Dame en Vaux in Châlons-en-Champagne, and the Basilica of Notre-Dame de l’Epine.

The inclusion of Coteaux, Caves et Maisons de Champagne in the 2015 list of protected sites makes the Champagne region’s identity international by promoting its hillsides (the oldest in the vineyard), the buildings erected by the Champagne houses and the countless cellars carved out of the chalk that house the precious nectar…
