Notre-Dame de Reims is one of the major creations of Gothic art in Europe. Included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage sites, this 13th century cathedral displays some unique characteristics, in particular its unity of style, its brightness and its statues. Notre-Dame surpasses other churches in this latter respect. Among its 2,303 pieces is included the famous "Angel with a smile", whose cheerful expression reflects the spirit of the Champagne School of the 13th century.
