The Der lake, ideal for bird watching!
Located near the road on the south dam, the Observatoire Ornithologique de Chantecoq is one of the spots on the lake that are dedicated to bird watching. The particularly vast observatory allows groups of bird watchers to practice their favourite past-time out of the rain.
It’s the perfect spot to see grey cranes, ducks, swans, herons, and large cormorants. Bean geese and Greylag geese are also very easy to spot there. In spring and summer, the purple heron is a regular.

The little extra
The Observatoire Ornithologique de Chantecoq has two levels: the lower one is for close-up photos of birds on the bank. It's perfect for passionate bird watchers to take some lovely snaps!
