Why enjoy
it ... !

This entwined couple, called: “The Conception,” is the work of Alphonse Terroir, winner of the first prize for sculpture in the Grand Prix de Rome in 1902.

It was created during his stay at the Villa Medici in Rome from 1903 to 1907. The sculpture depicts Eve’s anguish, before the mystery of childbirth that Adam is incapable of explaining to her; she has thrown herself in his arms. It was a gift from the city of Paris, a little before the Second Word War.
