A trail dedicated to Lalique in the heart of the Champagne wine country.
René Lalique, inventor of the modern jewel and an exceptional master-glassmaker known all around the world, was born in Aÿ-Champagne in 1860. The township wanted to pay tribute to the native with the creation of an Interpretive trail through twelve pieces of street furniture which trace the man, his era, his inspiration, and his works.
For René Lalique, the village remained a real source of inspiration. During long walks with his grandfather, through the vineyards or along the canal, he became infused with the abundant surrounding wildlife. He maintained his family home until his death in 1945.
