Why enjoy
it ... !
This chestnut tree marks the start of a long friendship between the inhabitants of Livry-Louvercy and those of Koekelare.
The tree was planted just before 1930 at the crossroads of two roads a kilometre from the village. At the time, it offered shade and shelter to Belgian seasonal workers employed for thinning and uprooting beets.
Still standing, despite the storm in 1999, it is a symbol of Franco-Belgian friendship.
