Come and explore one of the oldest Gallic fortifications in northeast Europe. The Camp d’Attila is a Gallic oppidum. The enclosure was built around 80 BC by the Catalauni people, who later founded the town of Châlons. In the Middle Ages, a lord built a motte with a simple wooden keep here. In the 18th century, a legend emerged that the battle of 451 against the Huns had taken place here, leading to the name ‘Camp d’Attila’, or ‘Attila’s Camp’. To get the full measure of the site, six viewpoints offer magnificent views and there are six information panels to guide you around the site.
