Why enjoy
it ... !
Nestled in a small valley in the Tardenois area stands the Cistercian abbey of Igny, the fourth to be founded by St Bernard. Nicknamed the ‘Abbey of the Saints’ in its heyday, it was demolished and rebuilt three times. The French writer Huysmans came to Igny to complete his conversion. Visits are currently restricted to the area around the monastery and the abbey’s main courtyard.
