Balade à Saint-Martin-sur-le-Pré

This spruce village has become the synonym of a residential area and industrial estate for the town of Châlons. But history shows us the traces of possession of ecclesiastic property with the nuns of Vinetz, from the name of the hamlet which for a short time had considerable importance. Why did they associate the field with the name of the famous Bishop of Tours? Quite simply because the meadow, which stretched down to the Marne, was used as pasture for the community's cattle when the winter floods were over.
