Balade à Marcilly-sur-Seine

The view over the Seine is magnificent. Facing the river, beyond a double row of cropped lime trees, is the majestic line of the façades of the bourgeois houses. These houses, dating from the 18th century, illustrate the powerful economy of the time, the floating of the logs delivered to Paris, especially by the Godot de Mauroy family whose name was given to a street in the Capital. The restored church is of ample architecture and the tower, which is tied to the castle, is refined in style. In summer, the Seine is full of activity with the beach and the harbour quay for pleasure boats.
