The Cathedral towers

While many people know and admire Reims Cathedral from its forecourt, few know that you can climb its towers to admire its architecture and see Reims from above.

The view has to be earned, with a spiral staircase of a hundred or so steps and some passages a little narrow. But once you’re at the top, you’ll enjoy a breathtaking view of the Cité des Sacres! An impressive visit, where you’ll discover the framework of this masterpiece of Gothic architecture, and be able to contemplate the Galerie des rois and its remarkable statuary.

VERZENAY LIGHTHOUSE

Overlooking the prestigious slopes of the Montagne de Reims, the Phare de Verzenay offers a museographic space to discover the fascinating world of Champagne vineyards.

But the discovery doesn’t stop there: an unusual 25-metre climb is available for the more adventurous, offering an exceptional view of the vineyard slopes and the valley.

Notre-Dame du Gruguet in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ

Perched on a steep hillside, this site offers a captivating view of the Marne valley and the village of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. The statue of Notre-Dame du Gruguet, erected in 1946, adds a historical dimension to the site.

Statue of Pope Urban II

Erected in 1887 in Châtillon-sur-Marne, the colossal statue of Pope Urbain II reaches a height of 33 meters.

With his finger raised to the sky, the child of the Marne Valley dominates his homeland from a promontory. From the foot of the statue, you can enjoy an exceptional panoramic view of the surrounding vineyards. There’s even an orientation table to help you find your way around the 22 surrounding villages.

On rare occasions, such as Heritage Days, some lucky visitors can even climb up a cramped staircase to reach under the statue’s arm.
