A new gateway to the Champagne vineyards

The Coteaux Vitryats are located on the Côte de Champagne, more precisely in an area known as the Perthois viticole.

Centrally located in the Champagne region, some 50 kilometers from the Coteaux du Sézannais and Côte des Blancs, and 70 kilometers from the Côte des Bar in the Aube, they offer very open views.

Some 15 wineries with the “Vignobles & Découvertes ” label open their doors and reveal the secrets of their champagne for a tasting and/or a tour of their winery.

Mostly planted with Chardonnay, the 480 hectares planted on chalk reveal nuances that play on the wines…

As you wind your way along the small roads of the Route Touristique du Champagne, through hills, mountains and plains, you’ll discover villages with typical Champagne bocage architecture (half-timbered houses).

Take advantage of your stay to visit nearby Lac du Der, one of Europe’s largest man-made lakes!

The route starts in Vitry-le-François, the “pink” city named after François 1er.

Don’t miss a visit to the Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame (a fine example of the classical style), before passing through the Porte du Pont (18th c.) on your way to Châlons-en-Champagne. The first vines appear at Couvrot and Côte de Gravelines.

Every year, on the first Sunday in July, “Bulles et Belles Histoires du Champagne Vitryat” invites you to plunge into the heart of Champagne’s terroir and history.

In turn, the villages along the Coteaux Vitryats Champagne Tourist Route become the scene of festivities, showcasing the region’s artisans and winemakers.

During this sparkling weekend, you’ll enjoy themed and sporting events: tastings, cellar tours and even a walk or trail around the vineyards!
