A FAMILY DAY AT JOISELLE & MONTMIRAIL WITH A VELORAIL, CHILDREN’S GAMES AND A NIGHT AT THE RANCH WITH THE LOTH-HAMON FAMILY – #1
Let’s discover the Marne region together, thanks to our ambassadors!
FAMILY PORTRAIT
Today, we follow Anne-Sophie Hamon, Arnaud Loth-Hamon, and their 2 children, Victor, 5, and Adèle, 2. Full of life and always in a good mood, the family is full of projects between two trips and a renovation. Never without a cap or bonnet, depending on the season!
Program for the day
- 10 a.m.: Meet at Joiselle for a rail bike ride
- 12pm: Lunch at 5.1 in Montmirail
- 2pm: Meet at the Ranch du Moulin St Martin
- Dinner and overnight at Ranch du Moulin St Martin
It’s spring again, and the Loth-Hamon family is back for its first ambassadors’ day! It began on Saturday morning with a ride on the Grand Morin cyclo-draisine, also known as the vélo rail. As its name suggests, the rail-bike follows a track and can accommodate up to 4 people. At the front of the bike, there are two places for pedaling. These are flanked by a small seat where passengers can let themselves be guided. Ideal for a family outing!
“We chose the 9 km route, which the manager’s daughter told us was nicer and shadier,” explains Anne-Sophie. “She explained how to maneuver the bike, then we set off. We took time out to take photos, pick up pretty stones, pick dandelions… Adèle was very calm and seemed to be having a good time. Victor, who was scared and didn’t want to do this activity, loved it. In fact, it’s his best memory of the day! A word of advice for families: if it’s a hot day, remember to take water, because 9 km of pedaling is hot! And if it’s raining, boots and rain gear will be welcome to avoid getting wet!
After lunch, the family headed for the Ranch du Moulin St Martin, a western farm just a few minutes’ drive away. The program included a stroll around the grounds, a meeting with the free-range hens and a tour of their accommodation. “We were welcomed by Fabrice, the manager. He immediately showed us our beautiful tipi for the night and the bathroom located in the nearby stagecoach”.
At 3.30pm, the children took part in the “Gold panning” activity. For a good half-hour, they searched for gold using two different techniques. “Victor and Adèle loved it! Adèle, despite her young age, followed all the advice and did what the grown-ups do,” enthuses Anne-Sophie. The family then continued their tour of the park, stopping off at the various games of skill and motor skills (ball pool, inflatable ball, etc.).
After a 2-hour cycle-rail ride, the family met up at the family-run home-cooking restaurant Le 5.1 in Montmirail for a well-deserved lunch! The kids were getting tired and hungry. “It was really excellent. Burger for me, entrecôte for Arnaud, menus for the kids and chocolate cake for dessert – we had a real treat!” says Anne-Sophie.
At 6pm, the family was free to enjoy the park, now closed to visitors. “We were lucky enough to have the park all to ourselves – a real surprise! Anne-Sophie and Arnaud rounded off the day in style with a campfire hosted by the ranch manager. On the menu? Sausages and marshmallows! “It was easier for the kids, and a lot of fun,” confirms the young mother.
After a good night’s sleep in the tepee, where every comfort was provided, the family had breakfast at the ranch, with a beautiful view of the park and the animals. Good to know: the on-site package includes access to a 2nd day in the park.
The last word
“After several months of work on our house, we loved this family moment. For us, the day was all about disconnecting and relaxing!
At the velo-rail or the ranch, everything was adapted for children aged 2 to 5. A weekend just the way we like them.
