Located in the heart of the historic hillsides of Champagne, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in the Marne Valley at the foot of the Montagne de Reims. Along with Mareuil-sur-A\u00ff and Bisseuil, A\u00ff is part of the new commune of A\u00ff-Champagne. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The origins of A\u00ff go back a very long way, with traces dating back to the Gallo-Roman era. Over the centuries, it has become a typical example of a traditional Champagne village, with a rich and diverse heritage that provides an insight into the champagne industry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to its wine and cultural heritage, A\u00ff also boasts a unique natural heritage and landscape, situated in the heart of the Montagne de Reims Regional Nature Park. Here you’ll discover a wealth of authentic natural resources. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Pope Urban II to French kings such as Fran\u00e7ois I, many have praised this historic village and its production. During the Renaissance, King Henri IV proclaimed himself “Sire d’A\u00ff et de Gonesse”, meaning “Lord of good bread and wine”, thus extolling the importance of A\u00ff wine to the French kingdom. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another famous figure: Ren\u00e9 Jules Lalique, born April 6, 1860 in A\u00ff and died May 1, 1945. This French master glassmaker and jeweler made a name for himself by designing sumptuous objects: jewelry, perfume bottles, vases, clocks and, at the end of his life, car cabochons. He is one of the most representative artists of Art Nouveau. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
